According to reports, the scene turned chaotic even before the commencement of accreditation and voting procedures, leading to the dispersal of party members who had gathered in significant numbers to participate in the candidate selection process.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the altercation escalated when a representative of one of the aspirants allegedly seized validation and accreditation documents from the polling station and fled, triggering the violence.

Amid the turmoil, security agents present at the venue reportedly struggled to contain the situation, forcing everyone to flee for safety.

In a related development, the Ondo Police Command has arrested two APC members for allegedly printing fake membership cards ahead of the primary election. One of the suspects, identified as Ariyo Ajiroba, was reportedly apprehended after intelligence reports revealed the fraudulent activity.

Items recovered from the suspects’ residence included APC party registration booklets, lists of purported party members, passport photographs, and documents containing names and phone numbers of individuals.

The Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, has reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property and to clamp down on any activities that could disrupt the peace and orderliness of the state.

The incidents have further heightened tensions among the APC aspirants, with seven of them raising concerns over the proliferation of fake membership cards. As the primary election unfolds, stakeholders are keenly observing developments and urging for calm and adherence to due process.
