Justice For Minors: Ndume Urges Compensation For Those Detained During Protests

He asserted that the government’s response should extend beyond rehabilitation to include compensation for the violation of their rights. “These minors should not have been arrested. This isn’t just about rehabilitation; it’s about compensation, as they have been wronged,” he stated.

Ndume stressed the need for the government to acknowledge the rights violations, calling for an apology and financial restitution to help these young individuals move forward with their lives. “The best approach is not simply to send them for rehabilitation but to properly acknowledge their situation,” he added.

While recognizing that the actions of the minors may not have been entirely justifiable, he insisted that their status as minors must be taken into account. “I’m not saying that they were entirely right, but we must remember that these are minors,” he said.

In related news, reports indicate that the detained minors have been released following a directive from President Bola Tinubu and were taken to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa for a reunion with their families.
