Monopolistic Forces Target Kyari’s Leadership, Say Arewa Youths In Bold Support For NNPCL Boss

In a statement, AAYG asserted that the protests, which took place at the NNPCL Towers and raised concerns about fuel queues, were instigated by influential individuals with personal agendas. These individuals, according to the youth group, are attempting to derail Kyari’s efforts to stabilize and reform the energy sector.

AAYG further accused the protesters, who demanded Kyari’s removal, of being hired individuals supporting the interests of oil businessmen seeking to maintain their monopolistic control. The group dismissed their claims regarding persistent fuel queues, labeling them as misleading and a diversion from the true challenges facing the Nigerian oil industry.

The youth group alleged that senior NNPCL insiders threatened by Kyari’s reforms were behind the protests. They claimed these individuals saw Kyari’s leadership as an obstacle to their ambitions and thus sought his removal to further their own careers.

Victor Duniya, the Publicity Secretary of AAYG, suggested that the protest was part of an effort by those who have monopolized other sectors—like cement—to extend similar practices to the oil and gas industry. He warned that such actions undermine the progress of leaders like Kyari, who are working toward energy security and economic stabilization.

The group also called on President Bola Tinubu to continue supporting Kyari, urging him to initiate an investigation into those behind the protests, particularly the internal NNPCL players involved in what they called “internal sabotage.”

Finally, the AAYG appealed to Nigerian youth to focus on constructive dialogue and support genuine efforts toward improving the nation’s energy sector. They urged youth leaders to resist exploitation by those with selfish interests and advocate for the nation’s collective progress.
