EFCC Holds Ex-Governor Okowa For Second Night Over Alleged N40 Billion LNG And Real Estate Deals

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), initially arrived at the EFCC office on Monday in response to an invitation. Upon arrival, investigators detained him and are scrutinizing claims that he redirected funds, including an additional N40 billion allegedly used to purchase shares in UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas.

A source disclosed that Okowa is also under investigation for allegedly using diverted funds to purchase properties in Abuja and Asaba, Delta State. Another allegation includes buying shares worth N40 billion in a major bank, acquiring an eight percent stake in support of an LNG project.

An inside source explained Okowa remains in custody due to the seriousness of the allegations. “We’re still keeping him, given the substantial amount involved. He was previously confronted with these allegations, and we’re waiting for his responses as the investigation proceeds,” the source revealed.
