The fierce attacks, which targeted both civilian and military areas, have further intensified the battle for control of the capital, with both factions accusing each other of indiscriminate destruction.

Omdurman Massacre: 54 Killed, Al-Nao Hospital Overwhelmed

One of the worst-hit areas was an army-controlled market in Omdurman, where RSF shelling claimed 54 lives and left 158 injured, pushing the already struggling Al-Nao Hospital to the brink of collapse.

“The shells struck the heart of the vegetable market, leaving devastation in their wake,” a survivor told AFP.

Despite multiple reports tracing the attack to RSF-controlled areas in western Khartoum, the paramilitary group has denied responsibility.

Air Strikes in Khartoum: Civilians Caught in the Crossfire

Elsewhere in Khartoum proper, an air strike by the regular army targeted an RSF-held area, killing two civilians and wounding dozens, according to local Emergency Response Room reports.

With RSF increasingly using drones and the Sudanese army holding an air strike monopoly, concerns over rising civilian casualties continue to mount.

War Crimes & Humanitarian Catastrophe

Both factions stand accused of war crimes, including:
✅ Bombing schools, hospitals, and markets
✅ Indiscriminate shelling of residential areas

The Sudanese Doctors’ Union confirmed that a shell exploded just meters from Al-Nao Hospital, adding to the devastation.

A volunteer at the hospital described the dire situation:
“We have no shrouds for the dead, no blood donors, and no stretchers for the wounded. The hospital is barely functioning—we are completely overwhelmed.”

Famine & Mass Starvation Threaten Millions

The United Nations warns that over 106,000 people in Khartoum are already suffering from severe famine, while another 3.2 million face critical hunger due to food blockades and ongoing fighting.

Escalation & Retaliation: Will RSF Strike Back?

Following the Sudanese army’s major offensive in Wad Madani, their allied militia, the Sudan Shield Forces, claimed control of Tamboul, Rufaa, Al-Hasaheisa, and Al-Hilaliya—strategic towns southeast of Khartoum.

However, RSF Commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has vowed brutal retaliation, promising to retake the capital.

“We expelled them before, and we will expel them again,” Daglo declared in a rare video address to his troops.

Khartoum in Ruins: War Shows No Signs of Ending

Since the conflict erupted in April 2023, Khartoum has been reduced to rubble, with entire neighborhoods overtaken by fighters.

A shocking investigation by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine estimates that at least 26,000 people have been killed in the capital alone between April 2023 and June 2024.

Global Condemnation & Sanctions

The conflict has drawn international outrage, with both:

RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo

facing global sanctions for their roles in the devastation.
