Kogi Power Shift: New Royal Stools Created As Suspended Monarch Makes Triumphant Return

In a strategic move to fortify Kogi State’s traditional institution and bolster grassroots governance, the state government has sanctioned the creation of several new traditional stools across its local government areas, according to iReporter Online.

The government also took decisive steps to resolve the protracted Bagana crisis, aimed at restoring peace in the troubled region. In the same breath, it announced the lifting of the suspension of the Onu Ife of Omala, His Royal Highness Boniface Musa.

Briefing newsmen after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Lokoja, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Ozigi Deedat, disclosed that the newly approved stools include the Ohiekura of Osara, the Ohireba Anebira of Lokoja, and the Ohi of Eganyi—now officially renamed Ohi of Ajaokuta—who will serve as Chairman of the Ajaokuta Local Government Traditional Council.

He also revealed that a distinct stool has been created in Bagana, Omala Local Government Area, as part of a broader peace strategy, according to iReporter Online.

In a related development, the SEC lifted the suspension of the Onu Ife of Omala, His Royal Highness Boniface Musa, who also serves as Chairman of the Omala Local Government Traditional Council.

His reinstatement followed what the government described as a clear demonstration of remorse and regret over the actions that led to his suspension.

The commissioner emphasized that the administration of Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo is unwavering in its commitment to preserving the state’s cultural heritage, empowering traditional rulers, and fostering peace and unity across all communities in the state—moves that signal a renewed era of cooperation between the government and the traditional institution, according to iReporter Online.
