This clarification follows a closed-door reconciliation meeting held by Obasa with his colleagues on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Obasa was re-elected as Speaker on Monday, March 3, 2025, after Mojisola Meranda stepped down. The APC, led by Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, played a vital role in mediating the crisis.

Despite rumors that Obasa would step down within 48 hours to allow for a new Speaker from Lagos West, the APC has denied such claims. The party emphasized that there was no agreement for Obasa’s resignation as part of the negotiations.
