Reports indicate that the gang employs deceptive tactics, advertising fake job vacancies and accommodation opportunities to attract unsuspecting victims, whom they then subject to brutal acts of assault and robbery.
According to police sources, the modus operandi of the gang involves renting apartments in upscale neighborhoods and using them as bases for their criminal activities. They target individuals who respond to their advertisements, luring them to these apartments under false pretenses before subjecting them to various forms of torture. Once they obtain personal information and access to the victims’ financial assets, they proceed to empty their accounts and engage in prolonged episodes of sexual assault, often recorded for later viewing.
The gang’s victims, primarily healthy-looking men, are chosen based on their perceived ability to satisfy the perpetrators’ sexual desires. Their criminal activities came to light following an incident involving a relative of a mobile police officer, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.
Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade mobilized a special squad to apprehend the culprits, leading to the arrest of seven members of the gang, including a senior member who claimed to be a lawyer. Interrogations revealed the extent of their depravity, with gang members boasting about their exploits and revealing that they had been operating for over three years, specifically targeting affluent areas where they could find well-nourished and attractive men.
However, concerns remain as some members of the gang managed to evade capture, raising fears that they may continue their criminal activities elsewhere. The revelation of internal conflicts within the gang, including reports of illicit relationships between members, underscores the complex dynamics at play within the criminal underworld.
As law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents, the arrest of these perpetrators serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by organized crime. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, as collective action is essential in combating such heinous acts and safeguarding communities against further harm.
