In response to a diphtheria outbreak at King’s College Annexe in Victoria Island, Lagos State has launched an emergency vaccination campaign to contain the spread of the disease. The initiative is being led by the Ministry of Health and the State Primary Health Care Board……….READ MORE

The delegation, including key health officials like Prof. Akin Abayomi, Commissioner for Health, and Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, visited the school to inspect its facilities and oversee the vaccination process. The inspection focused on areas such as the kitchen, dormitories, and classrooms, assessing potential risks and reinforcing preventive measures.

The vaccination campaign is targeting all students and school staff, with parental consent, to protect against the highly contagious disease. Prof. Abayomi reassured parents that the government is actively managing the outbreak and encouraged them not to withdraw their children from school, as such actions could impede containment efforts. He also urged students to maintain good hygiene and report any symptoms of diphtheria.
