Lamine Camara Speaks On Failed Chelsea Move

Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara has opened up on his failed move to Chelsea, saying he has put the disappointment behind him and is now fully focused on helping his club continue its impressive start to the Ligue 1 season.

According to Ireporter Online, the 22-year-old Senegal international was close to completing a £47.1 million move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window and had reportedly undergone a medical examination before the proposed deal collapsed at the final stage.

Speaking ahead of Monaco’s league clash with Strasbourg, Camara admitted that there had been a genuine possibility of leaving the club but insisted that he has now moved on from the failed transfer.

“There was a possibility I could leave. It didn’t go through at the last minute and that’s part of football. I’ve turned the page and am focusing on the season,” Camara said.

According to reports, Monaco had previously maintained that they would only consider selling the midfielder for a substantial transfer fee, while the club was also said to have explored the possibility of raising significant funds through the sale of other players.
