In another major move, the President nominated Hon. Emeka Atuma as chairman of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) in a revised list sent to the Senate.

This decision marks a shift from an earlier list presented in September 2024, where Ambassador Haruna Ginsau was nominated for the NWDC chairmanship. Additionally, Tinubu replaced former members, including Senator Tijani Yahaya Kaura and Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman, with Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq and Yahaya Aminu Abdulhadi.

The new list also aligns with an adjustment to the NWDC’s establishment act, which now includes representatives from all six geopolitical zones. This reshuffling is part of Tinubu’s efforts to broaden the scope of the commissions’ reach and impact.

Other board members include Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe, Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, and Aminu Suleiman. Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji retains his position as the managing director and CEO of NWDC.

In a similar vein, Tinubu has appointed Hon. Mark C. Okoye as the CEO of the South East Development Commission, with both appointments subject to Senate confirmation.
