Matawalle Reveals Tinubu’s 5-Year Plan To End Insecurity

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges, saying the Federal Government is adopting proactive operations, strategic planning and stronger collaboration with state governments to tackle insecurity across the country.

Matawalle disclosed this on Monday in Kano during a condolence and assessment visit to the state government following the August 29 bandit attack on Chiroma village in Garun Mallam Local Government Area.

He said the administration of President Bola Tinubu remained committed to defeating insecurity and creating a safer environment for Nigerians.

According to the minister, President Tinubu has constituted a committee to develop a five-year defence and security strategy aimed at providing a long-term framework for addressing security threats nationwide.

“The president has set up a committee to formulate a five-year defence and security strategy. The plan will provide a framework for addressing security threats across the country over the long term,” Matawalle said.

He further disclosed that security forces launched a joint operation following the attack on Chiroma village, with the operation led by Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, Commander of the 3 Brigade, Kano.

Matawalle said personnel from the Joint Task Force operating from the Hawan-Kwano and Kwanar Dangora camps participated in the operation, which resulted in the rescue of several kidnapped victims around the Yan-Kifi Bridge and Marabar Kwari areas of Garun Mallam Local Government Area.

The minister commended the troops for their efforts and assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue to strengthen the operational capabilities of the armed forces and other security agencies.

He said the combination of proactive military operations, long-term security planning and closer cooperation with state governments would help the country make significant progress in the fight against insecurity.
