Militias Kill Two In Taraba Community
Suspected militias carried out a deadly attack in Gbuo village, Akate Ward, Donga Local Government Council of Taraba State on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of two lives. Confirming the incident on Thursday, Chief Ugondo Uma, the traditional ruler of the Tiv ethnic group in Donga Council, condemned the attack as unprovoked. He highlighted that the assault occurred while farmers were engaged in their regular agricultural activities in the area.
Chief Uma expressed concern over the recurring attacks in the Gbuo and Akinde villages and urged security agencies and the state government to take decisive action to prevent further violence. He emphasized the peaceful nature of the local community and called for increased security measures along the Donga-Wukari border to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In response to the incident, the Taraba State Command of the Nigerian Police Force reaffirmed its dedication to rooting out criminal elements causing unrest in the state. They assured the public of their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of residents.
