Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Vanguard, Barr Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed the attack on Saturday, stating that it occurred during the night of Friday, April 12.
Expressing profound sorrow over the brutal attack, Fuddang lamented the inability of security forces, including the DSS, army, and Police, to prevent the assailants, identified as Fulani terrorists, from carrying out their heinous actions.
The attackers, numbering more than fifty and armed, reportedly descended upon the villages under the cover of darkness, targeting innocent and unarmed residents as they slept. Homes and a place of worship were set ablaze, and civilians fleeing for safety were mercilessly gunned down.
Fuddang strongly condemned the act of terrorism, denouncing it as part of a larger agenda to enforce sharia law and assert control over the territory.
The BCDC Vanguard recently filed a petition with the DSS disputing a leaked memo falsely accusing their community of plotting violence against Fulani settlers. Despite their efforts to rectify these falsehoods, the security apparatus failed to protect their community.
The sequence of events, particularly the timing of the attack shortly after the issuance of a false alert by the DSS about a potential assault on Fulani communities, has raised suspicions of collaboration or deliberate oversight.
The council demanded prompt transparency and accountability from the authorities, emphasizing that unless the DSS addresses the issue, they believe the agency is complicit.
Fuddang stressed that if satisfactory explanations are not provided within a short time, legal action will be pursued, asserting that they will not allow their people to be targeted and vilified while those responsible for their safety turn a blind eye.
