Minister Abubakar Momoh Commissions NDDC Office, Roads in Cross River

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has inaugurated a new Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) office complex and an 8.137km road network spanning Calabar South and Calabar Municipality in Cross River State.

During the commissioning held on Thursday, Momoh also launched the first phase of handheld tiller distribution to farmers across the state, furthering agricultural empowerment in the region.

According to a statement by NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the projects reflect the Federal Government’s dedication to transforming the Niger Delta under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Momoh praised the NDDC’s performance and urged other regional development agencies to adopt its results-driven approach. He also called for continued collaboration from state governors in the Niger Delta to ensure inclusive growth.

Representing Governor Bassey Otu, the state’s Commissioner for Works, Ankpo Pius, applauded both the Federal Government and the NDDC for their impact and encouraged the adoption of innovative road-building techniques tailored for the region’s terrain.

The NDDC Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, reiterated that the road projects exemplify the Federal Government’s commitment to developing oil-producing communities. Supporting the message, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku described the event as another milestone in the “Dividends of Renewed Hope” initiative.

NDDC’s Executive Director of Projects, Victor Antai, highlighted the commissioned roads as vital infrastructure that will improve transportation and daily life for residents.

In a goodwill message, Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong, Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, commended the commission’s performance and assured the Senate’s continued legislative support for its initiatives.
