Expressing dissatisfaction with the prolonged power outage and high electricity bills despite consumer payments, the Speaker warned of drastic measures if the AEDC fails to comply with the ultimatum. The House emphasized its commitment to enforcing accountability and delivering essential services to constituents, invoking constitutional powers to summon AEDC and the Nasarawa Electricity Power Agency (NAePA) officials for questioning.

During the session, AEDC’s Chief Business Officer for Kogi, Niger, and Nasarawa acknowledged operational challenges and admitted shortcomings in infrastructure maintenance and metering. He pledged improvement efforts, citing ongoing initiatives to address service deficiencies and enhance customer satisfaction.

In response, NAePA’s General Manager reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring effective power supply and pledged collaboration with AEDC to improve service delivery.

The NSHA’s ultimatum underscores the urgency of addressing power supply issues and highlights the role of legislative oversight in safeguarding public interests and holding utility providers accountable.
