In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, Commissioner of Police CP Shehu Umar Nadada ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Department/Tactical teams in the Command to ensure the full enforcement of the ban.
The directive extends to members of disbanded groups, mandating them to surrender all uniforms and equipment in their possession to the nearest Area Commanders or Divisional Police officers within two weeks.
The statement emphasized that the ban encompasses organizations such as the Kungiyar Zaman Lafia Nomad vigilante, Bassa vigilante, Eggon vigilante, and other similar groups. It categorically prohibits any association, movement, or group aiming to provide security among specific ethnic groups within Nasarawa State through the use of force or arms.
The Commissioner of Police warned that individuals caught operating or possessing prohibited firearms would face arrest and severe legal consequences.
This enforcement aligns with efforts to maintain peace and security in Nasarawa State, ensuring that all security operations are carried out by authorized and regulated law enforcement agencies in accordance with the law.
