APM Criticizes Osun Governor’s New Logo, Labels It “Waste of Taxpayer’s Money”
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Osun State has lambasted Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration for its decision to redesign the state’s logo, condemning it as a squandering of taxpayers’ money. In a scathing statement issued by the party’s chairman, Wale Adebayo, the entire concept behind the logo project was characterized as misguided, akin to attempting to climb a tree from its top…..READ ALSO Why APM’s Challenge Of Shettima’s Nomination Is A Waste Of Court’s Time – Tinubu, Shettima Tell Supreme Court
Governor Adeleke recently endorsed a bill adopting the new logo for the state, which was signed in the presence of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun. This move came after the Osun State House of Assembly repealed the state Anthem, Crest, and Flag Law 2012 in July 2023, replacing it with legislation allowing the executive to create a new logo.
Adeleke emphasized that the new logo symbolized a rebirth for Osun State, aligning with its history, anthem, values, and traditions. He portrayed it as an educational resource for the younger generation and a marketing tool for the state.
However, APM’s Adebayo expressed discontent, branding the initiative unimpressive and decrying its financial implications. He argued that the people needed tangible solutions to their problems, such as employment opportunities, rather than cosmetic changes like a new logo. Adebayo stressed the importance of quality leadership focused on addressing the core issues faced by citizens, such as poverty, unemployment, and infrastructure deficiencies.
The APM underscored the disconnect between government priorities and the needs of ordinary people, citing it as a source of frustration and discontent among the populace. They called for a shift towards policies and actions that would genuinely improve people’s lives, rather than superficial initiatives lacking substantive impact.
