Nigerian social media commentator Daniel Regha has called on members of the public to stop making jokes or mocking men over their physical attributes, warning that persistent body shaming can create deep insecurity and push some individuals into taking unnecessary risks.

According to Ireporter Online, Regha made the appeal while reacting to reports surrounding the death of Nigerian-British influencer Tiny, who reportedly died after undergoing a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand.

In a post shared on social media, Regha argued that ridicule over such sensitive physical issues is often dismissed as harmless entertainment, even though it can have serious psychological consequences for those affected.

He referenced previous conversations involving Nigerian singers Davido and Wande Coal, noting that jokes surrounding the subject had been treated as entertainment without sufficient consideration for the emotional impact they could have on individuals.

Regha stressed that repeated mockery from both women and fellow men could fuel insecurity and cause some people to seek risky procedures in an attempt to change aspects of their bodies.

He maintained that what may appear amusing to others could contribute to serious personal struggles for the individuals being ridiculed.

The social media commentator further urged people to embrace greater self-acceptance, noting that individuals do not choose many of the physical characteristics they are born with.

Regha called for more sensitivity in conversations about people’s bodies and encouraged Nigerians to learn to accept themselves rather than allowing public ridicule and societal pressure to push them into dangerous decisions.
