During Thursday’s plenary session, the Kogi Central senator was asked whether the case was already in court, to which she responded that it was not. Following Senate procedures, the petition was officially submitted and referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct for investigation. The committee has four weeks to review the matter and report its findings.

This marks the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has brought these allegations before the Senate. Her initial petition, which she signed personally, was dismissed on Wednesday due to procedural issues. Senate rules require that petitions be submitted through a third party rather than directly by a senator. With the latest petition now endorsed by her constituents, the Senate has accepted it for review.

Before Wednesday’s plenary session, Senate Chief Whip Senator Tahir Munguno raised concerns about Senator Natasha allegedly violating Senate protocols. Citing Order 55, Rule 1, he stated that all senators must stand still when the presiding officer enters the chamber until they take their seats. He claimed Senator Natasha had repeatedly ignored this rule, which had been widely reported in the media.

Munguno said he had instructed a Sergeant-at-Arms to inform her about the violation. He urged Senator Natasha to adhere to Senate regulations and avoid further breaches. Addressing her directly, he said she should ensure compliance and not continue breaking the rules.
