According to Mr. Femi Babafemi, spokesperson for the agency, the interception took place on the Gbongan-Ibadan Road in Osun State. The seized drugs weighed approximately 5.2kg. The 35-year-old bus driver, who admitted to the concealment, has been detained for further investigation.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives arrested a 26-year-old woman in Osogbo the day before, during a raid on her hideout. The raid yielded about 16.5 litres of “skuchies” along with quantities of molly and Indian hemp.

Furthermore, in separate operations, NDLEA arrested individuals involved in drug trafficking across various states. These included a 70-year-old grandfather and a 65-year-old man in Borno, along with others in Maiduguri and Gamboru-Ngala, who were found in possession of 32,000 ampoules of tramadol injection.

Other significant seizures included 24.5kg of Indian hemp intercepted in Yobe, as well as 8,400 bottles of codeine syrup recovered in Kaduna. Additionally, operations in Kano led to the arrest of individuals with 62kg of Indian hemp and 244 bottles of codeine syrup.

In Lagos, NDLEA operatives apprehended a suspect with 84 litres of “skuchies,” 1.1 litres of codeine syrup, 4kg of Indian hemp, and 800 tablets of tramadol. Moreover, eight suspects were arrested during a raid on the notorious Karu abattoir drug joint in the Federal Capital Territory, where 51.3kg of Indian hemp was seized.
