Nigeria To Develop Smart Bra Device To Detect Early Stage Cancer
The Nigerian Government says it will support innovative technology that will proffer solutions to healthcare challenges in the country.
Nigeria’s Minister of Science and Technology for State, Adullahi Mohammed made this known when he received the management of Next wear technology Hub, in Abuja the nation’s capital.
Abdullahi commended the Tech start-up for being the pioneers of wearable technology in Nigeria, saying that this innovative technology will boost the Federal government’s effort at improving the health sector.
He reiterated the Ministry commitment to support the Technology saying that the Nigerian Government will intensify efforts to improve indigenous technology.
The Minister said the intellectual property would also be protected appropriately by the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion NOTAP.
“I want to assure you that the Ministry will support you also the Ministry will work closely with the Presidential Standing Committee on invention and Innovation, to evaluate the innovation and see how it can be recommended for Presidential grant,” he said.
According to the Minister, the innovation will encourage women to participate more in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Earlier, the Project manager, the Next wear technology Hub and SMART BRA DEVICE, Miss Bolarinwa Kemisola, said the innovation was the newest of its kind in Nigeria and Africa which would be used to detect the earliest stage of breast cancer.
Miss Kemisola who explained that the device was conducive and safe for human also seeks the Nigerian government support to achieve the innovation.
The next wear technologies is a technology start-up that developed a Smart Bra device for early detection of breast cancer.
