The raid, executed on Thursday and Friday, yielded significant results with the recovery of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, a motorcycle, seven Baofeng radios, local ornaments, foreign ATM cards, two SIM cards, two voter’s cards, plate numbers of stolen vehicles, and a toolbox.

According to Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, the spokesperson for the operation, the troops encountered fleeing criminals during the operation, resulting in some sustaining gunshot wounds. Additionally, shallow graves were discovered during the clearance operation.

Unuakhalu emphasized the troops’ determination to maintain peace in the South-East region, assuring citizens of their commitment to safeguarding the area.

Furthermore, the Force Commander highlighted the encounter with planted IEDs aimed at hindering troop movements, which were successfully detonated by the troops, ensuring the safety of the operation.

The successful dismantling of the IPOB and ESN camp marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to address security challenges in the region, demonstrating the Nigerian Army’s resolve to combat insurgency and maintain peace and stability.
