Ondo Resident Doctors Initiate 14-Day Warning Strike Over Salary Delays

Conducting a peaceful protest at the hospital premises, the doctors vowed to suspend all activities until their concerns are addressed by the government.
Speaking to reporters during the demonstration, Dr. John Matthew, the President of UNIMEDTH ARD, highlighted the issue of new members not receiving their salaries and outlined several other reasons for the warning strike.
These reasons include the non-payment of palliatives to House Officers since February, the failure to disburse February’s Hazard Allowance despite assurances from the state government to settle two months, and a staff shortage resulting from doctors resigning from the hospital.
Dr. Matthew emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues, stating, “We demand full payment of the arrears of salaries owed to our members and payment of the February 2024 palliative to our house officers.”
He added, “Management should pay a February hazard allowance to our members and urgently address the severe clinical manpower shortage in the institution. Our members work every day. There are no staff due to Japan syndrome.”
