Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has raised an alarm over an alleged attempt to bypass the established electoral collation process in the ongoing governorship election.

According to Ireporter Online, Adeleke made the allegation shortly after casting his vote at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area.

The governor claimed he had received information suggesting that some individuals were planning to avoid the conventional process of collating results from polling units to wards and subsequently to local government areas.

Adeleke urged relevant authorities to pay close attention to the collation process and ensure that the established electoral procedures were followed throughout the exercise.

The governor also alleged that a police officer identified as “London” and said to be from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had been brought into Osun to allegedly create unrest and disrupt the election.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to investigate the allegation and remain vigilant for the officer in question.

The allegations came amid reports of tension and isolated disruptions at some polling locations across the state as voters participated in the governorship election.

In a separate development, voting was reportedly disrupted at a polling unit in Ejigbo following an outbreak of violence.

Footage from the location showed voters, residents and INEC officials fleeing the area as tension escalated. Several people were seen moving away from the polling centre in an apparent attempt to avoid the disturbance, while motorcycles and vehicles were also observed leaving the area.

The reported incidents have heightened concerns over security and the integrity of the electoral process as voting continues across Osun State.
