In an interview with Legit on Sunday, Paul underscored the autonomy of Rivers State, asserting that no external influence, including that of Wike, should dictate its governance. He emphasized that Fubara would govern the state independently, free from the control of any political godfather.

Paul condemned the practice of godfatherism, highlighting its detrimental effects on state development and prosperity. He reiterated that each governor of Rivers State, from Pa. Odili to Amaechi to Wike, operated independently, and Fubara would continue this legacy.

Furthermore, Paul emphasized the impracticality of Wike simultaneously holding positions as Minister of FCT and Governor of Rivers State, affirming the need for each state to have its autonomy and leadership.

He concluded by stressing the importance of allowing Rivers State to chart its course without undue interference, asserting that Fubara’s governance would be characterized by gratitude to the people of the state through effective stewardship.
