Suswan Vows To Reconcile Atiku And Wike If Elected PDP National Chairman

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Sunday, Suswam outlined his plans to lead the opposition PDP in challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to foster unity within the party.

Asserting his commitment to the PDP, Suswam emphasized his extensive experience within the party since joining in 1998, contrasting with those who frequently switch political affiliations. He highlighted his familiarity with key party figures and his ability to engage with stakeholders effectively, citing his closeness to leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike as advantageous for facilitating dialogue and reconciliation.

Suswam attributed the current crises within the PDP to the infiltration of moles planted by adversaries aiming to undermine the party. He stressed the importance of strong leadership to navigate these challenges and steer the party back on track, acknowledging the disillusionment among some members due to internal conflicts and perceived lack of leadership.

Reflecting on the party’s history, Suswam acknowledged the period of PDP’s dominance at the national level but recognized the erosion of public trust due to perceived arrogance among certain party elites. He expressed optimism about the PDP’s prospects for reclaiming power in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for unity, introspection, and forward-looking leadership to restore confidence among members and attract support from disillusioned Nigerians.

Suswam lamented the departure of high-profile members like former Imo governor Emeka Ihedioha but remained hopeful that effective leadership and internal cohesion could reverse this trend and strengthen the party’s appeal. He urged the party to prioritize unity and strategic planning to capitalize on the desire for change among Nigerians and position the PDP as a credible alternative to the incumbent government.
