Three Women Arrested Over ₦2m Baby Sale Scandal At Onitsha Park

According to Ireporter Online, the suspects identified as Florence Nnakuzie, 45; Hannah Ugah, 52; and Chinasa Daniel, 27, were arrested by police operatives attached to the Awada Divisional Headquarters following credible information from members of the public.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development on Sunday, said preliminary investigations revealed that Chinasa Daniel allegedly brought two children — a two-week-old baby and a four-year-old child — on separate occasions between June and December 2025.

He stated that the children were allegedly handed over to Hannah Ugah, adding that the four-year-old child was later transferred to Florence Nnakuzie and allegedly sold for ₦2 million, while the two-week-old baby was reportedly sold to another woman who is currently at large.

Ikenga said the arrest marked another major achievement in the command’s ongoing efforts to combat child trafficking and protect vulnerable children across the state.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a thorough and discreet investigation.

The police commissioner described child trafficking as a serious violation of human rights and a grave crime, directing officers to intensify efforts to identify other individuals allegedly connected to the suspected trafficking network.

The command also revealed that coordinated operations would be launched to locate and rescue any affected children and reunite them with their biological families.

The police further commended residents for providing timely information that led to the arrests, urging members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible intelligence to help fight criminal activities.
