A Nigerian woman has shared a deeply painful family experience, revealing that she has struggled for years to fully forgive her first child over the accidental death of her two-month-old baby.

According to the woman, the tragedy occurred when her son was only six years old. She said the boy accidentally threw the infant from a bed, after which the baby died.

The mother disclosed that she kept the circumstances of the incident private and told people that the baby had died naturally because she could not bring herself to explain what had happened.

She said that although she understands that her son was only a child at the time and that the incident was accidental, she has continued to battle painful emotions surrounding the loss.

The woman explained that her son is now 15, but the memory of the tragedy has remained with her, making it difficult for her to completely let go of the resentment and grief she has carried over the years.

She acknowledged that the boy was too young to fully understand the consequences of his actions, but said the emotional impact of losing her baby has made forgiveness difficult.

Her revelation has sparked conversations about grief, childhood accidents, guilt and the long-term emotional effects of traumatic experiences within families.

Many reactions have focused on the mother’s pain while also emphasising that her six-year-old son was himself a child who may not have understood the consequences of what happened.
