On the fateful night of February 23, 2024, gunmen believed to be kidnappers launched a brazen attack on the residence of Mr. Sunny Ogbuji, brother to the deceased, in the Irete Autonomous Community of Owerri West Council Area. Sensing imminent danger, Henry, having just returned from his pharmacy at Owerri Plaza, sprang into action upon learning of his brother’s abduction.

Courageous Pursuit Turns Fatal

Determined to thwart the criminals and secure his sibling’s freedom, Henry courageously gave chase along the road leading to the Owerri/Onitsha Expressway (Umungada junction). However, in a tragic twist, the kidnappers, desperate to evade capture, resorted to violence. Ignoring the risks, Henry closed in on the vehicle carrying his elder brother, only to be met with a fatal shot to the chest, ending his life instantly.
