The arrest, made on Monday in the Ago-Iwoye area, follows the harrowing incident that saw Reverend Fathers Kenneth Kanwa and Jude Nwachukwu kidnapped from St. Vincent de Paul Fier Parish.

According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the command, the suspect, identified as Christopher Yaro, was apprehended after fleeing to Ijebu-Ode amidst fears of retaliation from the community upon discovery of his involvement in the abduction.

Yaro, allegedly part of the same parish as the abducted priests, was accused of conspiring with five other individuals to carry out the kidnapping, armed with four K.2 rifles during the crime.

The suspects had reportedly demanded a hefty ransom of N25 million for the release of the kidnapped clergy, stirring distress among family and church members.

However, following a week of captivity, the Christian Association of Nigeria’s Plateau State chapter announced the priests’ safe release, providing a moment of relief amidst the ordeal.

With Yaro now in custody, awaiting further investigation, the police vow to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the abduction and ensure justice is served.

The apprehension serves as a crucial step towards unraveling the mystery behind the abduction, offering hope for the swift resolution of the case and bringing closure to the affected community.
