Police Ensure Safety And Caution Against Road Blockages In Kano
The Kano State Police Command has announced that it has coordinated with other security agencies to implement comprehensive measures aimed at guaranteeing the safety of lives and property during the upcoming festive season…READ MORE…
State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, provided this assurance in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Abdullahi, on Monday.
During a lecture at the Police Officers’ Mess Conference Hall, the Commissioner instructed all Department Heads, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other Supervising Officers to ensure robust security at places of worship and recreational facilities.
He also emphasized the need for constant patrols, efficient traffic management to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the state, and enhancing channels for intelligence gathering as the festivities approach.
The Command further urged residents to be cautious of any suspicious objects and to avoid carrying unneeded items that could raise concerns at worship centers. They advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact numbers.
“All forms of unauthorized horse riding are strictly forbidden, and the use of fireworks is completely prohibited throughout the state,” the statement added.
Additionally, the police command warned against obstructing highways and disrupting public order, as these actions are serious offenses under Nigerian law and can result in accidents, injuries, and property damage.
“The Kano State Police Command has noted with concern the growing trend of youths blocking roads in Kano to engage in dancing, washing, singing, and other activities for social media content creation. Such behavior not only causes unnecessary traffic delays but also poses a serious risk to public safety.
“The Command hereby warns all individuals and groups participating in these activities to stop immediately. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to discourage their children from involvement in such conduct,” Haruna stated.
He emphasized the commitment of the Command to ensuring public safety and order, asserting that they will take necessary actions to combat this issue, including the arrest and prosecution of violators.
Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba urged the public to report any instances of road obstructions or disruptions to the nearest police station for swift intervention, according to Haruna
