SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed these developments in a statement issued on Tuesday. The operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilantes, resulted in the successful rescue of Tejaram Chauhan, Kaduwal Pradhan, and Medani Kathiwada, who had been abducted on Friday.
Furthermore, the police recovered a substantial amount of cash, totaling N7.9 million, along with 1,500 Indian Rupees, believed to be part of the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
The sequence of events leading to the operation began when the Manager of Breeze Company Nigeria Limited, situated along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, made a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer of Mowe Divisional Headquarters. The call alerted authorities to an armed attack on two vehicles transporting company executives at Kajola junction along the Sagamu-Siun-Abeokuta expressway.
During the attack, one of the vehicles, escorted by police, managed to evade capture after engaging the kidnappers in a firefight. However, three Indian nationals traveling in the second vehicle, without police escort, were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location.
Prompt action by the anti-kidnapping unit of the police, supported by other law enforcement agencies and local security forces, led to the successful rescue of the kidnapped individuals. The area was thoroughly searched and combed as part of the rescue operation.
This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors alike along major transportation routes in the state.
