According to reports, on the evening of February 28, 2024, at approximately 19:40, the accused officers responded to a distress call from the public in Morningside, Mutare. The call reported the apprehension of Nyasha Foster by citizens after he allegedly robbed a complainant of US$60,000 at her residence.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the officers escorted Nyasha Foster to the police station. Shockingly, they purportedly devised a plan to misappropriate a portion of the recovered cash. Instead of treating Foster as a suspect, they allegedly falsely categorized him as an informant and subsequently released him.

Subsequently, the officers reportedly visited the Ireland Private Hospital, where the robbery victim was hospitalized. Under misleading pretenses, they purportedly informed her that only US$26,000 had been recovered, subsequently handing over this reduced amount to the complainant.

Suspecting deceit, the victim raised an alarm, prompting the swift arrest of the accused officers. They have since been remanded in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for March 8, 2024, for their bail ruling.

Nyasha Foster, the alleged robber, has also been rearrested on charges related to the robbery incident, with his court appearance slated for March 13, 2024.

This revelation highlights a disturbing breach of trust within law enforcement and underscores the necessity for stringent accountability measures to uphold the integrity of the police force.
