Ako Faraji, residing on the same road where the appalling act occurred, reportedly threw a flammable liquid at the group during the early hours of Sunday. The victims, which included a sixth officer who narrowly escaped being torched, had the flames swiftly extinguished, preventing any injuries, as confirmed by Leicestershire Police.

The 27-year-old faces charges of arson with intent to endanger life, along with one count under Section 24 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. Additionally, he is charged with theft, pertaining to an incident reported at a business premises in Leicester on the preceding Saturday.

Faraji made an appearance at Leicester Magistrates’ Court and is slated to remain in custody until his scheduled appearance at Leicester Crown Court on March 25. The shocking attack has left the community in disbelief as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind this alarming act of violence.
