During a high-level meeting held yesterday, February 22, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu expressed dismay over the sluggish implementation of approved policies by civil servants, which he deemed detrimental to the nation’s development.
Joined by key figures including the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Accountant-General of the Federation, Auditor-General of the Federation, and federal permanent secretaries, President Tinubu lamented the deliberate delays in executing critical initiatives.
Emphasizing the need for proactive engagement, President Tinubu underscored that civil servants should offer constructive suggestions rather than obstructing policies. He raised concerns about the “abysmal slowness” in implementing people-oriented programs, citing examples such as the N25,000 wage award to workers and the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative.
President Tinubu highlighted various reform programs aimed at job creation and economic revitalization, including the provision of loans, grants for nano businesses, and investments in gas-powered mass transit. However, he criticized the civil service for failing to execute these reforms effectively.
With a firm stance, President Tinubu called for urgent action to overcome bureaucratic obstacles and ensure the timely and efficient implementation of vital government initiatives.
