Prophet of Twitter? Nigerian Data Analyst’s Predictions Come True, Sparking a Frenzy of Requests
Nigerian data analyst, who shared his bold predictions on X (formerly known as Twitter) in April 2023, has caused a stir as nearly all of his forecasts have come true, prompting many Nigerians to seek his insights for their own lives.
In his original tweet, the analyst predicted the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria, which he warned would lead to unprecedented inflation. He also foresaw a wave of business failures as companies struggled under the weight of the economic crisis. Additionally, he anticipated that the government would increase taxes to compensate for the lost revenue from these struggling companies.
On September 2, 2024, the X user revisited his year-old post, expressing amusement at how accurate his predictions had been. In a tongue-in-cheek manner, he likened himself to a prophet, even mimicking the way some pastors speak to their congregations. “Have I met you people before? Do you people know me before?” he jokingly asked, referencing the common rhetoric used by religious leaders to validate their prophecies.
The accuracy of his predictions has led Nigerians to playfully refer to him as “Daddy,” a term often used for spiritual leaders. Many are now flooding his X account, asking him to make predictions about their personal lives, treating him as a newfound oracle.
This surprising turn of events highlights the growing frustration among Nigerians as the country’s economic challenges deepen. The data analyst’s predictions, which seemed far-fetched at the time, have now become a reality, leading many to wonder what other insights he might have about the future.
