In the midst of the social media debate surrounding Obasanjo’s heritage, Omokri joined the conversation, asserting that Obasanjo hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and not from Anambra State as claimed by some.

The controversy stems from claims made by the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Egba-land, Sunday Adekunle Majekodunmi, suggesting that Obasanjo’s biological father was an Igbo man from Onitsha, Anambra State. Majekodunmi alleged that this Igbo ancestry influenced Obasanjo’s support for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2023 elections.

Disputing these claims, Omokri argued that Obasanjo’s actions, particularly his role in defeating Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War, contradict the notion that he is of Igbo descent.

Furthermore, Omokri highlighted historical inaccuracies in the claims, pointing out the implausibility of an Igbo police officer fathering Obasanjo in Egba-land during the colonial era.

To settle the debate definitively, Omokri proposed a simple solution: conducting a DNA test on Obasanjo’s descendants and those claiming to be descendants of the alleged Igbo father. This, he believes, would provide conclusive evidence regarding Obasanjo’s true lineage.
