In his address, Akpabio stressed the importance of the Bureau, recognizing its key role in promoting accountability and discipline among public officials. He underscored that the Senate relies on the CCB’s efforts to maintain transparency within government operations.

“The Code of Conduct Bureau is not just vital for moral rectitude but also for ensuring the discipline of public officers and promoting accountability,” said Akpabio. He also noted that no public officer is cleared by the Senate unless they have submitted an asset declaration form to the CCB.

The Senate President assured the delegation that the legislature is fully committed to addressing the Bureau’s challenges, particularly regarding insufficient funding and inadequate infrastructure. He expressed readiness to work with the Bureau to secure the necessary resources for its operations.

In response, Dr. Bello highlighted the Bureau’s struggles, including limited funding, office space shortages, and a lack of personnel, calling for swift action to enable the Bureau to fulfill its constitutional duties effectively.
