claiming that his public service was driven by personal gain, accusing him of monopolizing public resources and engaging in corrupt practices. Adeyanju specifically alleged that Wike was grabbing land in the FCT and converting parks into residential areas.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike challenged these accusations, asking his critics to provide proof of the land they claim he had taken. He argued that the removal of shanties, which posed security risks, should not be classified as land grabbing.

Wike pointed out that the informal settlers had admitted they were living on the land without permission and that previous administrations had cleared the area multiple times. He stated, “If so-called educated activists are labeling this as land grabbing, then their education is indeed a waste.”
