Tinubu Appoints APC Chairman’s Son As Rural Electrification Agency Executive Director

His appointment was disclosed in a press release issued by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday.

The announcement follows the suspension of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, along with three Executive Directors of the Agency, from their positions.

In addition to Umar’s appointment, Abba Aliyu has been appointed as Managing Director/CEO, Ayoade Gboyega as Executive Director for Corporate Services, Doris Uboh as Executive Director for Rural Electrification Fund, and Olufemi Akinyelure as Head of Project Management Unit for the Nigeria Electrification Project.

The statement emphasized President Tinubu’s expectation for appointees to uphold transparency and accountability while delivering services to Nigerians.

The suspension of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and others came after a comprehensive investigation revealed financial irregularities totaling over N1.2 billion in the Rural Electrification Agency over the past two years. The new appointments are made in acting capacity, with immediate effect, pending further investigations.
