The news was confirmed in a brief statement by Frederick Nwabufo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, via X on Tuesday.

Upon his arrival, President Tinubu was welcomed at the airport by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Roland Lamola, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Tinubu’s visit follows his recent trip to France. According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Nigerian leader departed France on Monday for Cape Town. The 11th session of the Bi-National Commission, scheduled for December 3, was preceded by a ministerial meeting on December 2, 2024, at the South African Parliament in Cape Town.

During the visit, the two leaders are expected to discuss a range of issues, including political consultations, consular and migration matters, banking and finance, defense and security, manufacturing, the social sector, energy, and trade relations between the two nations.
