President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, marking the council’s first session since June 29, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, the meeting commenced at about 2:30 p.m. with the national anthem after the President arrived at the Council Chamber to lead proceedings.

Those in attendance included Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.

The council also observed a minute of silence in honour of former Minister of Finance Abubakar Alhaji, who served during the administration of former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida. Alhaji died on July 30, 2026.

Members of the council similarly paid tribute to former Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Turner Isoun, who passed away on July 15, 2026, during the session.

The latest FEC meeting comes several weeks after the June 29 session, during which President Tinubu swore in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners representing Bauchi and Kaduna states on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

The return of the council meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for the administration to deliberate on key policy matters and ongoing government programmes.
