Initial investigations suggest the cause of the accident was excessive speed, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The FRSC commander urged all drivers to remain cautious, emphasizing the dangers of speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, especially during festive seasons.

Ma’aji also pointed out that, despite efforts by the state government to improve road infrastructure, reckless driving remains a significant factor contributing to fatal accidents in the region.

In a separate development, the Kano State Police Command has dismissed reports of an attack on an 18-seater passenger bus and the subsequent killing of travelers as false. Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, issued a statement on Saturday, urging the public to disregard the rumors circulating on social media.

Kiyawa confirmed that an investigation was underway to identify the origin of the misinformation, warning that those responsible would face legal consequences. He urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary panic and harm in the community.
