Umuahia Property Owners In Panic As Gov’t Issues Strict February 13 Compliance Deadline
Property owners in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, have been given until February 13 to remove unauthorized projections from their buildings or risk government-led demolitions.
The Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) also mandated landlords who have illegally converted residential properties into commercial spaces to revert to their original purpose and seek proper government approvals.
Speaking on Saturday, UCDA General Manager Kingsley Agomuo emphasized the state government’s commitment to restoring the city’s aesthetics. He further announced plans to relocate traders from Isi Gate to Afara once the new market is completed, ensuring a more organized urban landscape.
Agomuo hinted that the government would soon introduce standardized and uniform building projections to maintain a consistent city design.
