Spokesperson for the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, revealed that firefighters swiftly responded to a distress call around 4:50 hours, only to confront a scene of devastation. Two structures, one comprising six rooms and the other four, lay engulfed in flames, leaving nothing but charred remnants behind.

Investigations uncovered a grim reality: the inferno was not accidental but a deliberate act perpetrated by rival factions engaged in a deadly confrontation. Tragically, one life was lost during the clash, triggering a retaliatory strike targeting the home of the opposing group’s leader. The assailants, driven by vengeance, obstructed efforts to douse the flames, exacerbating the destruction.

Fortunately, prompt intervention by the fire brigade and local law enforcement curtailed further damage, yet the incident serves as a somber reminder of the catastrophic toll of violence and animosity.

Director of the state fire service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, extended condolences to the affected families and issued a poignant plea to parents and guardians to instill values of peace and civility in their children. He underscored the imperative of community unity and peaceful conflict resolution, emphasizing that violence only begets more suffering and devastation.
