According to Bello’s statement, the EFCC’s claims of inviting him for interrogation immediately after his tenure ended on January 27, 2024, lack substantiation. He challenged the EFCC to produce evidence of the invitation, including details such as the delivery date and recipient’s name/endorsement, asserting his confidence that the agency cannot provide such evidence.
The statement further highlighted Bello’s stance against what he perceives as intimidation and harassment by the EFCC, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the rule of law. Bello maintained that the EFCC’s actions are part of a pattern of defying lawful court orders.
The statement referenced official records and court documents related to the EFCC’s pursuit of Bello, claiming that these documents establish a clear timeline of events contrary to the EFCC’s assertions. Bello’s camp emphasized the importance of factual evidence and challenged the EFCC to substantiate its claims with verifiable documentation.
The statement concludes by reiterating Bello’s determination to uphold his innocence and defend himself against what he perceives as unfounded allegations and malicious intent on the part of the EFCC.\
