APC Wins 4, APM Takes 1 As INEC Declares Bye-Election Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the results of five bye-elections conducted across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states on Saturday, September 19, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing four seats while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won one.

According to the results announced by the electoral commission, the polls covered one federal constituency and four state constituencies across the four states.

In Gombe State, APC candidate Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a emerged victorious in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency by-election with 41,121 votes. The Labour Party polled 3,553 votes, while the APM secured 872 votes.

In Kano State, APC candidate Husseini Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency by-election with 22,890 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) recorded 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 108 votes.

The APC also secured victory in Delta State, where its candidate, Okolosi Ator, won the Udu State Constituency by-election with 8,724 votes. The PDP polled 214 votes.

In Bauchi State, APC candidate Yakubu Ali was declared winner of the Disina State Constituency by-election after polling 5,846 votes. The APM recorded 5,225 votes, while the PRP scored 3,701 votes.

The APM recorded its only victory in the five bye-elections in the Sakwa State Constituency of Zaki Local Government Area, Bauchi State. Its candidate, Adamu Yakubu, secured 8,515 votes to defeat APC’s 3,771 votes. The PDP polled 2,076 votes, while the PRP recorded 727 votes.

The results mean the APC secured four of the five seats contested, while the APM won the remaining seat in Bauchi State.
