I Don’t Care About Backlash” — Aisha Lawal Explains Why She Hides Daughter From Public

Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has explained her decision to keep her daughter, Zara, and her partner away from public attention, saying the choice was driven by privacy and her desire to protect her family.

According to reports, the actress made the disclosure during an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she explained that keeping her daughter away from social media was a deliberate decision and not a response to possible criticism.

Aisha revealed that Zara was born following a difficult pregnancy experience and disclosed that the child had a twin brother who did not survive.

The actress said the experience surrounding her pregnancy made her particularly protective of her daughter and influenced her decision to keep the child away from social media platforms.

She also expressed concern about the treatment of children online, particularly instances where young people are subjected to criticism and bullying by social media users.

Aisha said she would rather protect her daughter from unwanted attention than expose her to the potential risks associated with growing up in the public eye.

“Yes, I deliberately covered my daughter’s face at Rakeem’s birthday party because she is the product of my first pregnancy. I became pregnant with them when I was in my 30s, and did you know she had a twin brother who later left?” she said.

The actress said her decision was informed by the difficult experience she went through before and during the pregnancy.

“I want you all to understand what I went through before having her. I don’t want my daughter Zara to be on the internet at all because I’m not comfortable with the way some people bully children. I don’t care about the backlash online,” she added.

Aisha also explained that she had intentionally kept her partner and the father of her children away from public scrutiny.

According to her, maintaining privacy around her family helps preserve the respect and dignity she believes should come with keeping certain aspects of personal life away from public view.

“I also deliberately kept my partner and the father of my children away from the public space because I discovered that whatever is covered or concealed is treated with honour and respect,” she said.
