Speaking during a visit by the West African College of Physicians, Shettima praised healthcare workers for their commitment to serving the nation despite numerous challenges.

“Your profession is highly noble, and although many young professionals seek opportunities abroad, you have chosen to stay, driven by a moral duty to serve your country,” Shettima remarked.

The Vice President assured the delegation that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to addressing the country’s healthcare issues. He also highlighted the appointment of Professor Muhammadu Ali Pate as the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, noting Pate’s comprehensive understanding of the healthcare sector.

Reflecting on his past efforts in healthcare education, Shettima shared his initiative from 2014, when as Governor of Borno State, he sponsored female students to study Medicine and Surgery in Sudan. These students have since graduated and are now employed by the state government.

Dr. Jeremiah Aboi Madaki, the leader of the delegation, thanked the Vice President for his support of the West African College of Physicians’ 48th Annual General and Scientific Conference. He expressed optimism about the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the healthcare system under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
